Computer Science and Robotics
In a world being reshaped by technology, computer science has become as fundamental to a student's education as mathematics or language. At Albayan Schools, we treat it that way, building a program that gives students not just technical skills, but the computational thinking and problem-solving mindset they'll need in virtually any field they go on to pursue.
Our computer science curriculum is aligned with international ISTE and CSTA standards, and follows a structured, spiral progression that deepens year after year:
Elementary Cycle. Students begin away from a screen entirely, learning to think like problem-solvers and investigate data like detectives, before taking their first real steps onto the computer: navigating it confidently, expressing their creativity through digital drawing, and building their first simple programs. From there they move into real creation: writing and formatting documents, building presentations and spreadsheets, researching online with a critical eye, and writing their own code. By the end of Elementary Cycle, students have published a real, live website of their own, and gotten hands-on with machine learning, training and testing their own AI models, and 3D design.
Middle Cycle. The curriculum opens up considerably. Students program physical hardware they can hold in their hands, write their first real Python code, and explore generative AI directly, learning to write effective prompts and to question what AI produces rather than accept it. They go on to build databases, design and code real websites, and develop their first mobile applications, alongside an introduction to cybersecurity.
Secondary Cycle. Students work at a genuinely professional level: applying real computer science concepts like data structures, systems architecture, and network fundamentals, managing projects from plan to delivery, and building more advanced, accessible mobile applications. They also produce professional-quality video, imaging, and animation work.
This foundation is reinforced through robotics, where students design, build, and program robots that turn abstract ideas into physical, working solutions. Robotics gives computer science a hands-on, tangible dimension, reinforcing coding concepts through engineering, competitions, and real-world application, while building patience, precision, and teamwork.
